ANDREW KURZAWSKI

Andrew Kurzawski has been around the music and radio industry his entire life. HIs father, Dennis is a professional musician, Duquesne University Tamburitzan alumni and fixture on a variety of ethnic, Dixieland and jazz radio shows.
Andrew, excelled on the basketball court at Carlynton High School (Carnegie, PA) where he started on the varsity team for 4 years, was a multiple year all section award winner, played for the prestigious Pittsburgh JOTS AAU organization, was named a US Army National Scholar Athlete and finished his stellar high school career ranked in the top 10 in school history in points, rebounds and blocked shots. Following high school Kurzawski passed on a number of athletic scholarships offers to enter the Catholic Seminary where he attended St. John’s University (Queens, NY) and earned a bachelors in pre-law (philosophy) in 2007. He continued his studies at St. Vincent Seminary (Latrobe, PA) and St. Cyril and Methodius Seminary (Pittsburgh, PA) and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 2013. While at St Vincent he began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant working with the Bearcats Men’s and Women’s basketball programs. Following graduation Kurzawski continued in coaching with stops at Carlow University, Penn State Beaver and most recently Point Park University.
In 2016 Kurzawski founded Gym Rat Performance Training – a basketball training, strength/conditioning and personal training company to help athletes of all ages achieve their sports and physical goals. He is a NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association) Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Kettlebell Instructor, Certified Advanced Kettlebell Instructor and I'm Possible Certified Skills Trainer. Kurzawski has worked with athletes starting at the youth levels all the way to the pro ranks having prepared a number of competitors for professional combines including professional basketball player Kason Harrell for the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers pro combines before he landed in Europe staring for Killester (Ireland) where he led the team to the playoffs as a rookie while leading them in scoring. Kurzawski has also worked with pro hooper EJ Blackwell (playing in Iraq), Jonathon Milligan (formerly of the University of Pittsburgh and now playing in The Basketball League) and Jared Wilson Frame (formerly of the University of Pittsburgh who played with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G-League and now with HUBO Limburg in Belgium). He has served as a strength and conditioning coach as well as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Carlow University, Penn State Beaver University and Point Park University.
Kurzawski is currently the Head Girls Basketball Coach at McGuffey.
In his spare time Kurzawski enjoys dining around Pittsburgh with his wife and son, keeping up with WPIAL high school sports as well as small college sports in the tri-state area.
